In Somerset there is one admission in September for all children whose fifth birthday falls in the following academic year.
At Churchstanton we aim to make the transition into school as smooth and happy as possible. At our New Parents evening, you have the opportunity to look round again and Mrs Holt will run through the procedures for starting school. This meeting provides an informal and friendly opportunity for you to meet other new parents and familiarise yourself with the setting. You will also receive our Starting School booklet, full of useful information and forthcoming dates. In addition, the PTA will be on hand to introduce themselves and encourage you to be involved in a number of fundraising and social events throughout the year.
During the summer term before they start school, children are invited to attend story times and play sessions with the class teacher, Mrs Holt and the other children in Hedgehog Class. Mrs Holt also visits the children in their pre-school setting and in their home.
In September we recommend that children attend school for mornings only and some lunch times for the first three weeks..
