Infant (KS1) Free School Meals
As from September 2014 the Government is providing funding for free school meals for all infants (children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2).
We are delighted that we have secured The York Inn, who are based in the center of Churchinford.
Although the free entitlement to meals is for KS1 children and those qualifying for free school meals, we have decided to also offer the daily meal to KS2 children, at a cost of £2.75 per day.
Due to the administrative demands you are required to opt in or out of the hot meal service. We regret it is not possible to have the odd hot meal here and there. You are required to order and pay for meals, in advance, on a four-weekly cycle. Orders without payment or orders not received on time will not be processed and you will need to provide a packed lunch for your child.
If your child is not attending school on a particular day – eg through illness – you would need to telephone our school office before 9.00 am and ensure you specify your child’s menu choice for that day in order that it can be cancelled and a credit issued.
There are many studies that indicate the advantages of a hot meal for children which include a higher level of concentration and increased ability to learn. We therefore hope that you will consider carefully the potential benefit for your child.
If you think your child may be entitled to free school meals, please contact the office, who will be able to give you a form to complete. In addition to the entitlement to free meals, the school will also receive additional funding, currently £1300. This is known as Pupil Premium Funding (see our Pupil Premium page for more information).
